When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting the Poor ... and Yourself
This book, by Steve Corbett & Brian Fikkert, is being used in our new Sunday school class which meets at 9am in the Fish bowl. The class is studying the best practices for poverty alleviation around the world and locally from a Biblical perspective. The class is a mixture of teaching with a lot of discussion.
Joseph - The Hard Life
As God leads us through different stages of our life, it is helpful to examine the path of Jacob's son Joseph. For a man with so much hope for the future, Joseph spent a good part of his life rejected, abandoned, and imprisoned. How did he endure the abuse, betrayal, disappointment and injustice so prevalent in his life? This adult Sunday school class takes a look at how the choices Joseph made helped him overcome every overwhelming obstacle life threw at him.
This new four-week series began January 10, 2010, and meets in the youth room at 10:30am.
